Winter is finally here! and in case, this isn't true where you live, you're missing out. Well, except for the awful roads riddled with accidents and slide offs, white out conditions, and the bitter single-digit windchill that requires at least half a dozen layers on just to take the dog out, but it's really pretty outside!!
So I mentioned in my first post of the year that I'm working on a latch-hook rug, and it's just about half way done!
The bottom ball of yarn was originally a gross salmony pink in the pattern, but i cut my own yarn so it could be purple. I'm also tweaking the cat so it's more solid gray and looks like Izzy.
In other yarn news, I'm working on a new crochet hat pattern for sometime next week. This time it's toddler sized!!

Which came first? The cats or the yarn?

Can someone please explain to me the correlation between cats and yarn?
I understand that to be a cat means you must be unequivocally fascinated by yarn. It's in their blood.
That's not what I'm talking about.
What I would like to know is why are people who knit and crochet, (aka "yarn people") more likely to have a cat than a dog?
They don't even have to actually own a pet. From my experience, if someone knits or crochet's they are more cat friendly than dog friendly.
Maybe it's a demeanor thing? But I don't believe that, because cats, dogs, and people alike come with a wide spectrum of personalities.
Is this even true? It could just be me, but it just seems that "cat people" and "yarn people" seem to, quite often, be the same people.
So am I getting this idea from the dozen or so people that I can think of? Or is this a universal thing?
Am I just assuming incorrectly there are masses of people like me?
~No new projects to put up at the moment. I've got a handful of things "in progress" so I thought I'd try my hand at a more narrative blog.~

Coming Soon!
Are you ready?
Am I ready?
Of course not. I have six days left! But I am spending a large portion of my days hook in hand. This year is going to be an almost entirely crocheted Christmas. I'm not sure if I ended up saving any money, (I have a tendency to buy more yarn than I actually need since it feels like I'm saving) but handmade gifts are so much more fun to make and give.
I'll start posting specific projects after the new year when everyone's recieved them so I don't give anything away. Don't want to ruin the surprise!
But in case you're wondering, here's my crafting list for gifts this year:
But in case you're wondering, here's my crafting list for gifts this year:
- 10 crocheted scarves
- 1 crocheted headband
- 1 crocheted hat

See? That's not even as much as I thought. :P
